About Frisco, TX

Located in the counties of Denton and Collin 20 minutes north of Dallas, Frisco is a city known for being the city that many corporations are beginning to call their home. It’s no surprise, with the city being known for its fast growth and development. It’s not just about commercial and industrial development; it’s the whole package that makes Frisco one of the top 100 places in the USA to settle down in.

History of Frisco Texas

Frisco began as a railroad town along the Shawnee Trail, and given the times, it was a place near where cowboys would meet and plan their trail drives. But as the cattle drives lessened, people began to congregate near railroad stops, and by 1904, Frisco City was named after the railroad that contributed to its development, the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad. As time went on, the name was shortened to “Frisco.”

Sports and Frisco

If anything, Frisco is a sports town, with the Dallas Cowboys now moving their team’s corporate base and training facility to Frisco. The Dallas Stars also call Frisco their home away from home. You also have the Frisco Rough Riders, and the NBA Development Team, the Texas Legends that play at the Dr. Pepper Arena.

Shopping in Frisco

Frisco is also well known for the great shopping experience:

Stonebriar Center – This mall features major store chains such as Nordstrom and Macy’s, and has an expansive 24-screen movie complex, complete with IMAX.

Frisco Square – From the Square and going along the Main Street, you’ll have your fill of interesting food and shopping experiences.

Furniture – Frisco has a wealth of furniture stores, including the likes of IKEA, Ethan Allen, and Ashley furniture.

Shops at Starwood – This Mediterranean-inspired collection of specialty retail shops, restaurants, and services is perfect if you want to have a taste of something different.

Stonebriar Commons – This new development is gaining ground as an upscale place to eat and shop in.

Parks and Trails of Frisco

Frisco has 43 parks, and an additional 744 acres of undeveloped land. You can hike, bike, or just enjoy some nature time with your family.

With Frisco’s current city credentials, it’s a city that’s a great place to visit if it’s on the way, and it’s a great place to consider staying in, if you can find a job in the city.
